About County Line Nurseries

Our company was founded in 1942 by our president’s grandfather, Virgil Drake, and has been owned by the family ever since. The company president, Mike Collins, has worked in the business since he was 12 years old. He then began to develop an interest in the industry, which he then pursued in his studies by majoring in landscape nursery management and landscape architecture at Michigan State University.

In 1988, Collins bought the business from his grandfather and expanded its services from selling trees to residential landscape design and installation. Not long after, the business was also expanded to include commercial landscaping, which then became the primary focus of the company.

We are now expanding our service to include high-end residential landscaping and irrigation services.

Mike Collins is now raising his own son, Drake Collins, named after the man who built the company from the ground up. As a way to honor his grandfather’s legacy, Mike is excited to be bringing his son up in the footsteps of Virgil Drake. He is optimistic about his son’s future and for the further “greening” of our world.
